Willie Picard

A lifelong resident of Pride, retired Gulf States employee and a U.S. Navy veteran, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his residence. He was 76, a loving husband, father, grandfather. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 9am to 1pm with religious services in the chapel at 1pm, conducted by Pat Richardson. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Elsie Jean Bass Picard. Also survived by daughter, Lisa P. Powers and fiance, Wiliam A. Benson of Denham Springs a son, James Brian Picard and previous wife Lisa M. Picard of Pride a daughter and soninlaw, Theresa P. and John W. Cress of Pride three grandchildren, Brandi and husband Michael Schmidt, Reagan Cress, and Jacqueline Powers three great grandchildren, Brendon Stafford, Landon and Hollis Schmidt a brother, Amelcar Picard, Jr. three step grandchildren, Blake, Brannon and April McGraw two step great grandchildren, Blakely and Jake LaLonde, Jr. three sisters and brothersinlaw, Shirley and Jerry Forbes, Norine and Gene Flowers, and Rosemary and Pat Richardson. Preceded in death by parents, Amelcar Sr. and Eula P. Picard, a grandson, Joel Stafford, and a great granddaughter Chassity Stafford.
