Willie "Buddy" Easley Bowman, Jr., 86 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, was called home to his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on June 11, 2018. He entered this world on September 27, 1931, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, born to Willie and Marion Bowman. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and LSU earning both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in the College of Education. He served for many years on the Board of Directors for Lane Regional Medical Center. Buddy was a charter member of Brownfields Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Baker. He retired from Baker High School as a teacher and then served as principal at Brownfields Baptist Academy. Buddy served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Army and was later promoted to Captain in the United States Army Reserves.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley R. Bowman; three sons, Terry R. Bowman; Perry G. Bowman and his wife, Patricia, and their children, Blake Easley Bowman, Dustin Allen, Devon Allen, Dayton Allen, Deanine Allen, and Phillip Reynolds; and M. Bruce Bowman and his wife, Donna, and their children, Laura Melancon and her husband, Kole, and Ryan Bowman and his wife, Megan, great-grandchild, Emmy Melancon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buddy is preceded in death by his father, Willie Easley Bowman, Sr.; mother, Marion Spence Bowman; and two sisters and their husbands, Lucille and Melvin Phenix and Beverly and Calvin Gauley.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jay Avance, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Baker. The graveside service with Military Honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Baker.
