Reverend Willie Mayo Berthelot, Sr., 93 years old, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 17, 2025. He entered this world on April 12, 1932, born to Mary Edith and Joseph Berthelot, Sr., in Morganza, LA. Willie honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Deacon and faithful member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
Willie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Helen Bordelon Berthelot, and his ten children; Willie "Billy" Berthelot, Jr. (Ann); Gayle Berthelot Broussard (Steve); Jeff Berthelot; Tommy Berthelot (Sue Ellen); Denise Berthelot (Audrey); Christie Berthelot Zeringue; Jack Berthelot (Tonya); Brent Berthelot (Suzanne); Brian Berthelot (Hillary), Michelle Berthelot Wyble; 40+ grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, brother and five sisters, as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law; sons-in-law, Herb Zeringue and Jamie Wyble.
Serving as pallbearers will be Willie's grandsons Mark, Joshua K., Joshua R., Hunter, Hayden and Justin. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew and Parker Berthelot.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, LA, on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, in Baker, Louisiana.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Home Instead Care Pros as well as to the nurses and aids with Clarity Hospice who provided such compassionate and loving care to our precious father. In lieu of plants and flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity.
