William Laney

William "Denton" Laney, 60, beloved husband and father, was called to his eternal resting place on August 2, 2016. He was born on April 21, 1956 in Lafayette, LA, to Billy and Deanie Laney. Denton was diagnosed in 2012 with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and never lost his sense of humor or love for life. He remained positive and hopeful throughout his ALS journey. His memory will live on in Debbie, Ryan and Brooke as he leaves with them his inspiration and life lessons. Denton was a proud Baker Buffalo, he graduated from Baker High School in 1975. He was an avid LSU fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved the outdoors and working with his hands. Following his diagnosis, Denton, family and friends were actively involved in the ALS Association and together formed team "Do It For Denton" and participated annually in the Baton Rouge Walk To Defeat ALS.

Denton is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Singleton Laney; daughter, Brooke Laney O'Neil and husband Kevin, son, Ryan Denton Laney; brother, Mike Laney and wife Judy; 2 sisters, Kay Laney Lambert and husband Rick, Debra Smith and husband Dodd.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Locke and Bernadine Dupont Laney.

Pallbearers will be Micheal Kimbrell, Paul Laney, Kevin Kimbrell, Kevin O'Neil, John Micheal Singleton, Cade Kimbrell and honorary pallbearer, Dustin Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd., Baker, LA, Friday, August 5, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Tom Bougher will officiate the services. The graveside service and burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.

His family would like to thank the ALS Association, The Steve Gleason Foundation, his physician Milvia Pleitez MD and everyone for all of the support, prayers and love.
