William Copes

William Henry "Pete" Copes, 92 years old, beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2020. He entered this world on December 27, 1927, born to Azel and Robert Copes, in Prairieville, LA. He served his country with the United States Air Force. He worked as an Optical Instrument Repairman and avid astronomer. He was a longtime resident of Baker, Louisiana.

William is survived by his sons, William H. "Pete" Copes, Jr. and wife Terri, and Robert S. Copes and wife Susan; daughters, Dorothy G. Maharrey and Linda S. Cazes; son-in-law, Robert Becker; best friend Michael A. Rogers, 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

William is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Copes; father, Robert Copes; mother, Azel Copes; daughter, Carolyn Becker; son-in-law, Carl Maharrey; brothers, Robert G. Copes and John Mixon Copes; and sister, Ann Burkholder.

A private family graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6213 Groom Road, Baker, LA at 11:00AM officiated by Michael A. Rogers.
