Wesley William Stewart was born on October 21, 1959 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His love for adventures in the great outdoors began as a boy. At an early age of 18, his love for the water and his country met and he joined the U.S. Navy. During his time of service, his knowledge and appreciation of firearms unfolded. Later, on August 16, 1986, (as Wesley would say), he married his greatest blessing, Loretta, and his life was forever changed.
Wesley was proud to pass on his love of the outdoors, cutting and riding trails, camping, exquisite weaponry, cooking, gardening, and good music to his children, and later on to his grandchildren. His most distinct characteristic was his ability to exhibit excellence in everything his hands found to do.
In his own words, watching the spiritual growth of his children and grandchildren led him to a place of a repentance. Life-long prayers were answered, and his family witnessed a miracle as he was baptized in Jesus name by his son, David, on March 8, 2020.
His greatest honor was being called "PawPaw Wes" by all children that knew him. He endured a challenging battle with cancer, but fought to the very end to extend his time with the ones who loved him most. On August 30, 2021 at 5:05pm, Wesley found rest, surrounded by his wife and children in the comfort of his home.
Wesley is preceded in death by his father, Wesley A. Stewart Jr. and stepfather, James H. Moore.
Wesley will be terribly missed by his wife, Loretta Finley Stewart; daughter, Nicole Bryant and husband, Jeremy; son, David Stewart and wife, Whitley; daughter, Emily Holt and husband, BJ; grandchildren, Julianna Bryant, Landon Holt, Skylar Stewart, Tucker Holt, Josiah Bryant, Mason Stewart, Layla Bryant, Laiken Holt, Canaan Bryant, and Stella Bryant ; mother, Edith Moore; brother, David Stewart and wife, Lenora; sister, Elayn Welford; stepsister, Marye Blank and husband, David; and stepsister, Peggy Galvan and husband, Henry.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Life Tabernacle Church, 9323 Hooper Road in Central, Louisiana on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM conducted by Pastor Tony Spell.
