W.P. Alexander, a resident of Baton Rouge, died Tuesday, July 13, 2011 at his home. He was 82 and a native of Jayess, Mississippi. Visitation at Baker Funeral Home Thursday, July 14th from 58 PM and on Friday from 9 AM until religious service at 10 AM in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Huey Moak. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Carr and husband Kenneth, and Alesia Cashio three sisters, Erline Knowles, Pearline Givens, Sue Herron and husband Bill three grandchildren, William Patrick Carr and wife Nicole, Carla McKey and husband Brad, and Erica Lane Cashio four great grandchildren, William Price, Tucker Ray and Jacob Alexander Carr and Alexa Reese McKey motherinlaw, Cavie Sumrall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sybil Sumrall Alexander his parents Dewitt William Alexander and Maggie Martin Alexander sister, Charlene Daniels and brothers, Cecil and Hugh Alexander. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and Lab Analyst with Kaiser Aluminum and LaRoche Chemical for 46 years. He was a charter member of Foster Road Baptist Church, where he faithfully served. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. The family would like to thank the staff at the Fresenius Airport Dialysis Center for the loving care provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foster Road Baptist Church, St. Joseph Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
