Virginia King

Virginia Rae Crochet King was born on October 11th, 1939, in Baton Rouge, LA. She went home to be with her Lord on December 7th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband JD King, her mother and father, the Reverend Norman Crochet, Sr. and Tamer P. Crochet, her older brother, the Reverend Norman Crochet, Jr, her two baby sisters, Ora Hull and Lydia Kay Crochet, her baby brother, Clifton Nelson Crochet, and her identical twin, Etta Mae Langlois. She is survived by her daughter, Shawn Covington Braud, her son in law, Dennis Braud, Jr, her grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Kimberly, and Joshua Braud, and great-grandchildren, Aveline and Atlas Callegan. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, her very dear neighbors, Julie, Nelson, and Robert, and her phone buddy, Ms. Shirley.

Virginia was a strong, fiercely independent lady that instilled in her daughter the belief that she could do anything. She was always supportive, loving, and encouraging. She found joy in doing special things for those she loved. She would bake themed cookies and birthday cakes, crochet beautiful gifts, or create some craft that she thought would be a blessing. Nothing made her happier than surprising someone. Before Covid, she loved seeing her Riverside Baptist church family and singing in the church choir. When she wasn't creating gifts, playing her violin was a favorite pastime. Virginia enjoyed having mother-daughter sleepovers and daily phone conversations. She, and those, will be missed immensely.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd, Baker, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Kennon Pickett. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 6213 Groom Rd, Baker, LA.
