A loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, V.J. was welcomed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father at 4:44pm on August 14, 2010. He was 76, a native of Jackson, Louisiana and a resident of St. Francisville. Known as Pops, he retired from Formosa Plastics with 29 years of service as a Power House Operator. He also served in the U.S. Navy. V.J. enjoyed camping with his family and took many trips over the years in his 5th wheeler. He also looked forward to working in VBS each year. V.J. leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Edna: a daughter, Donna Rogers a son, Mike Rogers and his wife, Tana, all of St. Francisville: a grandson, Joshua Rogers and his fiance, Holly Merritt a granddaughter, Tabitha Rogers greatgrandsons, Gavin and Myles Cloud: a brother, Charles Rogers and his wife, Maria of Denham Springs a sister, Anna Patureau and her husband, James of Brandon Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his son Cliff Rogers and his parents, Victor J Rogers, Sr. and Florence Rogers. Visitation at First Baptist Church in St. Francisville on Monday, August 16 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday , August 17th from 11:00 am till religious services at 2:00 pm, conducted by Reverend Joe Ratcliff. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Baker. Pallbearers are Pete Bryant, Pete Pittman, Kevin Foil, Thomas Page, Roy Landry and Don Reed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge, Solace Medical, and Tasha, Toni and the other sitters who gave him tender, compassionate care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to First Baptist Church VBS Fund P.O. Box 1339, St. Francisville, La. 70775 or Hospice of Baton Rouge 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A., Baton Rouge La. 70810.
