In Loving Memory of Vernon Guy Dennis, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Vernon Guy Dennis, Jr. Born on August 4, 1931, in Catahoula Parish, LA. Vernon brought light and joy to the lives of those around him. His journey on this earth came to an end on February 4, 2024, as he peacefully transitioned to his eternal rest.

Vernon was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a cherished friend, and a dedicated member of his community. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. His kind and gentle heart extended to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on our lives. Vernon was known for his unwavering work ethic and his commitment to providing for his family, but especially for his loving smile and sense of humor.

During his working years, Vernon served as an operator, working diligently for the industrial chemical industry. He displayed a genuine passion for his craft, approaching each task with skill and dedication. His perseverance and commitment to excellence set a shining example for all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Vernon was an avid gardener blessing his friends with gifts from all that he grew.

Vernon is survived by his son, Terry Dennis (Lynn); daughters, Paula Dennis and Melanie Dennis; grandchildren, Travis Dennis (Ky), Tara Dennis Atchley (Josh), and Megan Freeland (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Sky Dennis, Joshua Atchley, Hannah Atchley and Johnny Atchley; sister, Patsy Ruth Dennis; numerous nieces and nephews.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Guy Dennis, Sr. and Vera Newsom Dennis; wife, Patsy Seal Dennis; sister, Mae Evelyn Dennis Haring; and his beloved cat, Spooky.

Pallbearers will be Carl Haring, Sam Haring, Glenn Bourke, Joey Nolan, Brad Spring, and

Brian Spring.

Honorary Pallbearers are Travis Dennis and JP Pruitt.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Jay Avance. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the outstanding care given by the doctors and staff that worked with Vernon at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge.
