Verna "Lois" D. Easley, a long-time resident of Baker, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on August 7, 2017. She was 83 years old, born to Jessie and Beulah Daigle on March 1, 1934. Lois was raised on Bayou Chene, La. and graduated from Plaquemine, La. She was very proud of her long-time employment with the Baker Police Department. She authored her very own cookbook, Mrs. Verna's Fine Cajun Cuisine, that is registered in the National Library of Congress.
Lois is survived by a daughter, Lois and husband Chip Pierson; three sons, John W. and wife Carol S. Easley, Jess H. and wife Debbie B. Easley, Robert Neal and wife Margaret Easley; grandchildren, Mindy Bailey, Heather Pierson, John Robert Easley, Rachel Lynn Bayham, Jacob Shaw Easley, Jeremy Trent Easley, Jess Easley II, Jesslynn Lillie, Micah Easley, and Morgan Richardson; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, D.M. Daigle; sister, Iola O'Conner.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hugh Easley; and parents, Jessie and Beulah Daigle; four brothers and one sister, Pat.
Pallbearers will be Chip Pierson, Mike Bailey, Jess Easley, John Robert Easley, Darren Lillie, and Micah Easley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob and Jeremy Easley.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the religious service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Reverend Tony Hand. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
