Velma "Earlene" Austin

Velma "Earlene" Austin, 84 years old, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on October 7, 1940, born to Opal and Earl Hale, in Saint Joseph, LA. Earlene was known for her famous cooking including teacakes, chocolate pies, and peanut butter fudge. Her family would love to visit over a hot bowl of chicken and dumplings. Her love language was serving her family and friends food that made them feel her love and warmth. She was a lifetime member of Brownfields Baptist Church. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Earlene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Freddie Masters of St. Amant; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Rebecca Austin of Central, and Jeremy and Jeri Austin of Prairieville; eight grandsons, Fred, Chris, and Drew Masters, and Hunter, Cole, Seth, Grant, and Calhoun Austin; granddaughter, Maeve Austin; great-grandchildren, Bryson Lee and Baelynn Masters, Addison Austin; two brothers, Lester and Billy Hale; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Earlene is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bubba" Austin; parents, Earl and Opal Trevillon Hale; two brothers, Albert and Thomas; and sister, Margie.

Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Masters, Hunter, Cole, Seth, Grant, and Calhoun Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred, Chris, and Bryson Lee Masters.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM until the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, officiated by grandson, Cole Austin. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
