Vandal Mercier

Vandal Wallace Mercier, 84, of the Central City community, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Nick Mercier, Jr., and her parents, Van and Mabel Wallace, and sisters, Virginia Faucett and Inez Reaves.

She is survived by her children, Van Martin Mercier and his wife, Angie Mercier; Vanissa Rivere and her husband, Ed Rivere; her grandchildren, Chad, Kimberly, and Todd Kelly, Christina Mercier Luton and husband, Charles Luton, and Nicholas Mercier. She had six great grandchildren, Van and Jax Mercier, Lily Love Dupuis, Lydia Ann Kelly, Monreaux Tobais, and Madison Luton. Her two remaining siblings are Shirley Schexnaider and husband Norris; John Wallace and wife, Chiquita. John was her baby brother with whom she enjoyed a close relationship. Visitation and Funeral will be at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA 70714 on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 noon. No graveside service will follow.
