Sophia Fuqua

On Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 11:00pm, Sophia M. Dupuy Fuqua, affectionately called Nanny, Fie, and Sophie, breathed a sigh of release and relief and went to Heaven to join the many whom had gone before her. She was 98, born December 3, 1913 in Effie, Louisiana. She is survived by a son and daughterinlaw, A. Don and Gloria Fuqua daughterinlaw, Justine Reeves nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and four greatgreat grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris E. Fuqua a son, Eugene infant daughter, Geraldine two sisters and three brothers. A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Effie, Louisiana. A celebration of life by close family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity. No truer words can be said about our Nanny than written by the Apostle Paul in II Timothy: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
