Shelton "Shell" James Fontenot, 78 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 5, 2018. He entered this world on September 24, 1939, born to Sulie and Odette Fontenot, in Port Barre, LA. He was a retired insulator after 30 years of service. He was a self-taught artist and a faithful LSU Tiger fan.
Shell is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jerrie Fontenot; 2 sons, Kenneth and wife Leslie Fontenot and Brian Fontenot; 4 daughters, JoLynn and husband Troy Pearson, Michelle Henry, Monique Thibodeaux, Amber and Justin Capdepon; 10 grandchildren, Brittany, Katie, Brandi, Tyler, Brooke, Blake, Claire, Peyton C., Peyton T., and Austin; great-grandchildren, Carson, Brianna, Maddelyn, Olivia, Benton, Weston, Kade, Kole, Katie C., and soon to be delivered Hudson; 2 sisters, Betty and Lois; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shelton is preceded in death by his parents, Sulie and Odette Fontenot; 2 brothers, Wedney and Royson; 2 sisters, Lucy and Bernice; and great-grandson, Riley Reynolds.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Deacon Shelley Joseph.
