Savoie John Rabalais, known to his friends as RAB, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 21 2020, Fathers Day! A native of Plaucheville, La. born on January 10th 1929. He was married to his high school sweetheart Louise Dufour who proceeded him in death. After he graduated High School he served in the US Army and then moved to Baton Rouge to work for Armco Steel from which he retired.
He and his bride adopted 2 children, Stephen, who proceeded him in death, and his daughter, Edie, who blessed him with two grandsons, Robert Simoneaux, married to Taylor, and Rustin Simoneaux, all who reside in Georgia. He was one of six children born to Wiley and Ann Rabalais. His brothers, Russell, Raymond, Bobby, and Dean; and sister, Genevieve LaCour; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years where he was the best cook at the hall. He volunteered at St. Vincent’s DePaul and ushered and volunteered at St. Isidore for many faithful years.
Savoie was steadfast, strong, and honest, all great qualities in a great man. He never met a stranger.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana. Face masks are required before entering St. Isidore Catholic Church.
