Ruth Yeager Adkins, 90, was born January 25, 1925 in Monroe, LA and was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She passed away January 4, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Ruth enjoyed gardening and writing poetry at her home where she lived for 60 years with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joel R. Adkins, a World War II Army veteran who served in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Bronze Star; three children, Rusty Adkins of Lawtell, LA (wife Ann), Mary "Ginger" Thomas of Tyler, TX (husband David), and Rob Adkins of Ballston Spa, NY (wife Sandi); a sister, Yvonne Braley of West Monroe, LA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Ira Leon Yeager and Grace Biggs Yeager of Monroe, LA; as well as three sisters.
Public visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home on Friday, January 8 from 9 a.m. to noon, with memorial service at noon.
Interment will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army or any charity of your choice in Ruth's memory.
