Ronald Clayton "R.C." Carter
R.C. Carter, 73, a resident of Baker and a native of Pollock, LA, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice, Baton Rouge. He was retired truck driver, and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Era. He enjoyed fishing, and was a member of Harding Street Baptist Church for 43 years.
R.C. is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Carter; two daughters, Melissa Poyorena (Randy), and Stephanie Griffin; a son, John Carter; two sisters; four brothers; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and six brothers.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Sunday, January 24, from 6-9pm, and will resume on Monday, January 25, from 10am until religious services in the chapel at noon, conducted by Rev. George Scruggs, Jr.
Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
Serving as pallbearers are John Carter, Micah Poyorena, Taylor Poyorena, Greg Carter, Buddy Carter, Chad Carter, Cody Carter, and Val Buxton. Honorary pallbearers are LCPL Randy Poyorena, Jr., Hugh Edward Carter, J.D. Carter, Herman "Peanut" Carter, Valentine Buxton, Merritt O'Neal, Raymond Erwin, Preston Fruge', and Wayne Carter.
