A resident of Baker, and a retired supervisor with Sears Warehouse, he passed away at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was 84, a native of Plaucheville, and a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 59pm. Visiting at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 3458 Hwy. 107 S., Plaucheville, on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by Rev. Charles Morgan. Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum. Survived by two daughters, Kay Bonds and husband, Scott of Midlothian, Virginia, and Kathy Robertson of Baker four grandchildren, Traci Bonds, Drew Bonds, Cameron Robertson, and Camille Robertson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes Mayeux Scallan three brothers, Noland A. Toye Scallan his twin, Gerald Scallan, and Hunley Scallan two sisters, Ruby Rabalais, and Nell Guilbeau and his parents, Henry and Flora Gremillion Scallan. Tye was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cooking, and made a great gumbo. He loved riding his old red tractor, cutting everybodys grass, and working in his garden. He truly loved his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
