Robert Lewis

Robert Windam Lewis was a retired concrete paving superintendent with T. L. James Company. He passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at his home due to complications of cancer. He was 75, a resident of Baker, LA, and a native of Merryville, LA. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Visiting will be Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Religious Services at the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 21, 2010, at 9:00am conducted by Rev. Christopher Decker. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Robert was survived by his wife of 50 years, Willena Decker Lewis, and one sister, Margaret Krasso of Merryville, LA. Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ella Lewis of Merryville, LA., two brothers Richard O. Lewis, Jr. of Lafayette, LA Henry Jack Lewis of Merryville, LA., one sister, Mary Elizabeth Belknap of Poquoson, Virginia, and two nephews, Gerald Jerry Gaspard, and Richard O. Lewis, III. Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved working with his hands and gardening. Pallbearers will be Bobby Lewis, Glen, Derek, and Kolbi Sanchez, Charles Edward Decker, and Ray Guidroz. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Miletello, Dr. William Russell of the Pennington Cancer Center, and the wonderful staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge.
