GILLETT, Robert Bob Dwight

A retired farmer and a retired Environmental Scientist with the Louisiana Dept. of Environmental Quality, Bob passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010. He was 65 and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was born on September 23, 1944 in Thornwell, LA to Darrell Phoebe Meaux Gillett. Known as Pa Pa Bob to all of his grandchildren, he was a loving father grandfather. A personable, compassionate and humble man, Bob always had a smile for people he met, and his kindness was reflected in his blue eyes. Visiting at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh, LA on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 39pm, and on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Welsh from 9am until religious services at noon, conducted by Rev. Charlie Crews. Interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. He is survived by his faithful and loving companion, Sheila Melancon Abshire children, Donald Dwight Gillett, Christopher Gillett wife Chrissie, and Elizabeth Bertrand husband Bryant grandchildren, Chase, Dylan, Gabriel, Joshua, Isabelle Gillett, and Alyssa Bryson Bertrand a sister, Wanda Faye Barker special daughterinlaw, Lisa Toups Rogers and the mothers of his children, Anne Prague Gillett Monlezun and Pat Love. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Donald Charles Gillett and Darrell Wayne Gillett.Pallbearers will be Gibby Lyon, Barry Abshire, Cody Abshire, Allen Broussard, Chester Dugas, Russell Carr, Danny Hardee, Larry McCown. Honorary pallbearers will be the Welsh High School Class of 1962. Bob was a 1996 Graduate of McNeese State University, and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Welsh. He enjoyed music, was a member of the Baton Rouge Goldwing Chapter, and loved riding his motorcycle with Sheila, exploring the countryside together. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
