Mr. Robert Farrell passed away of natural causes after a short illness, Wednesday October 17, 2012 at home with his family at his bedside. A retired conductor with Illinois Central Railroad with 42 years of service. He was a resident of Baker and a native of Canton, Ms. He was a U.S. Navy airplane mechanic on the F4U Corsair. He is survived by 2 daughters, Paula Macanas and husband Dalmar H. Macanas, Delores Smythe and husband Charles Smythe. 2 sons, James Steven Farrell and wife Claudia Farrell and Leslie R. Farrell and wife Nita Farrell. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren . Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McGill Farrell who passed away in 1977, his father, William Jefferson Farrell , 1930 and his mother, Laura Berry Farrell in 1977, 4 sisters, Jessie Raines, Dorothy Brown, Elizabeth Mikell and Juanita Kierum and 2 brothers, James Marvin Farrell and Milton Farrell. He was an avid motorcyclist, riding actively and touring the United States until 1997 when he retired his motorcycle in Cheyenne, Wy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW, Experimental Aviation Association EAA, and Big R Club retired railroaders ICRR. He received his life long dream of becoming a pilot in 1974 at Ryan Air Field, and flew many glorious trips with his eternal wife and love, Joyce. Mr. Farrell was well loved by many friends and family members. He will be remembered for his wonderful life stories by both young and old. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home Chapel 5:009:00 Friday October 26, 2012 and Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints LDS, 4901 Harding St., Baker from 9:30 until religious services at 11:00am conducted by Bishop Baird.
