Robert Adams

Robert W. Adams went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2021. He was 81 years old. A native of Mt. Auburn, IL and a resident of Zachary, LA. He was born on February 24, 1940. He served 3 years in the US Army. He was retired from the Dept. of Corrections with 21 years of service.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of 45 years; his 6 children, Jim Kent (Terri), Lonnie Kent (Liz), Lori Kent, Debbie Ponder (Jeff), Sabrina Moore (Jason) and Tarina Hornsey (Chris); 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Roberta and Amanda; 12 grandchildren, James, Katie, Heather and Jeffrey Ponder, Adam, Galen and Abigail Kent, Scott, Logan and Callie Moore, Christy and William Hornsey; 11 great-grandchildren, Jared, Alyssa, Bailey, Madison, Avery, Jaiden, Carson, Levi, Presley, Axel and Aaliyah; brothers, Don Adams (Louise) and Steve Adams (Ethel); sisters, Becky Nations, Louis Adams, Susan Tumiati (Jeff), and Nancy Barringer (Alan), all residents of Illinois; along with his 3 precious dogs whom he loved, Pinto, Candi and Cricket.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Vertie Adams; sisters, Eva Lee, Juanita, Judy and Ruth; and brother George.

Pallbearers are his grandsons; Jeffrey and James Ponder, Adam and Galen Kent, Scott and Logan Moore, William Hornsey and Matt Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 7:30 AM until the funeral service at 8:30 AM conducted by Reverend Mark Hurley. Burial and graveside service will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W Mt Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary.
