Rithi Collignon

Rithi Nguyen Collignon, known by most as "Kim," was called home to be with Jesus Christ on December 31, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a short battle with Covid and a stroke. She was 72 years-old. She was born in Saigon, Vietnam on October 25, 1949. She was the youngest of 5 daughters. She met and married her first husband, Anthony Hargroder, in 1972 during the Vietnam War. She moved with him to Louisiana and they had 2 daughters, Aileen and Jennifer. They divorced in 1982. On February 27, 1984, she married the love of her life, George Collignon. They were inseparable until his untimely death on December 22, 2021.

She worked for the East Baton Rouge School Board as a teacher's aide for over 25 years. In this capacity, she helped elementary school teachers and assisted Vietnamese children learn English.

She is survived by her daughter, Aileen Anglin and spouse, Tim, and three granddaughters, Rianna, Kayla, and Scarlett; and daughter, Jennifer Michelli and spouse, Mitch, and granddaughter, Nora.

Rithi could usually be found working in her yard, exercising, or cooking. She loved to go on Sunday drives with George and play at the casinos.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation on Friday, January 14, 2022, at St. Isadore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70811, at 12:00 PM followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 PM officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker, Louisiana.
