Richard Stiles, Sr.

The earthly music stopped for Richard J. Stiles, Sr. on October 10, 2022, he died peacefully in his sleep. Richard was a devout husband to his wife, Sandra Ann Milligan Stiles for 52 years. He was a loving father and adored grand and great grandfather. He never met a stranger, no matter how much he had going on in his life, your troubles and cares were always top priority. When he saw someone down, he wanted to show them love and kindness. It could be with words, or a joke or a song, but they left touched and glad they listened. His love of music by far outweighed any other passion. He could sing his way into any heart and move any dark cloud right out of a room. He was a proud member of Swamp Fever Band. He had a passion for woodworking and cooking. He enjoyed eating good food. There was not a sandwich or meal he would not critique or BBQ he would not sample. Sharing coffee or a bowl of cookies and cream ice cream was his favorite, whether it be for breakfast or dinner or with close friends. He adored friendship. He had quite a few. If you were a friend, you were just like a brother to him. He was truly heaven sent. Never to judge but always there when called upon.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Renee Richard of Zachary and Peggy Abernathy of Baker; grandchildren, Meghan A. Stiles, Bailey J. Stiles, and Stormie R. Davis; 3 great grandchildren; his dog Charlie Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by the love of his life and his high school sweetheart, Sandra M. Stiles; son, Richard J. (Ricky) Stiles, Jr.; parents, Thomas and Martha Stiles; and brothers, Billy W. Stiles, Tommy R. Stiles and Michael H. Stiles.
He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 4:00 PM until the funeral service at 6:00 PM.
