Richard Dale Spears
A loving and faithful husband, Dale died peacefully at his home on Monday, July 7, 2014. He was 56, a native and resident of Baker, and a retired operator with Dow Chemical.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Pastor Robert Davis. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
Dale is survived by his wife of 25 years, Melanie McLin Spears of Baker sister, Janet S. Smith of Denham Springs nieces and nephews, Dr. Melissa SmithPhillips and husband Matthew of Galveston, TX Jennifer Thames and husband, Matt, Miranda Smith, and John Adam Smith and wife Karen, all of Denham Springs great nephews, Jacob, Micah, and Joseph Thames, all of Denham Springs motherinlaw, Rose McLin, and sisterinlaw, Theresa M. Samaha, both of Baton Rouge, who loved Dale like a son and brother and goddaughter, Katie Hector and husband Nick, and their five daughters, Abigail, Kara, Laura, Kristen, and Mary Renee Anne, all of Walker.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy L. and Leon C. Spears, Jr. brotherinlaw, Michael F. Smith and fatherinlaw, Peter L. McLin, who loved Dale like a son.
Pallbearers are Matt Thames, Adam Smith, Matt Phillips, Joe Mitchell, Barry Keller, and Scott White.
Dale and Melanie appreciated all of the love and support from family, friends, and caretakers, and would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
