A loving husband, dad, and pawpaw, and a retired Southern Baptist Minister, was welcomed into his Heavenly home by his Savior on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 3:50pm at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 72, a resident of Central, and a native of Slaughter. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 59pm, and on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 9am until services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Womack and Rev. Jay Avance. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by his wife, Joyce Crochet of Central a daughter and soninlaw, Donna and James Baker of Pittsburg, TX a son and daughterinlaw, Brad and Meredith Crochet of Hidgon, AL three sisters, Etta Mae Langlois and husband Jimmy of Baker, Virginia King and husband J.D. of Denham Springs, and Ora Hull of Livingston three granddaughters, Lecia Crochet Willbanks, Amy Crochet Goetz, and Terri Marie Crochet a grandson, Jonah William Baker and a great granddaughter, Alicia Willbanks. Preceded in death by his first wife, Mayme Crochet parents, Tamer Paxton and Norman J. Crochet Sr sister, Lydia Kay Crochet brother Clifton Nelson Crochet and a brotherinlaw, Rev. Gerald Hull. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Langlois, Henry Sutterfield, James Baker, Darren Harrell, J.D. King, and Harold Monk. Norman was active in his church and his community. He was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, and a 1980 graduate of New Orleans Theological Seminary. He pastored many churches in Mississippi and Louisiana, and was a former house parent for the Mississippi Baptist Childrens Village. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International.
