Randall "Randy" M. Smith, 73, passed away peacefully at OLOL after a long and courageous fight with multiple myeloma, under the care of Dr. Mary Stringfellow! What a fighter he was!!
Randy certainly will be missed by his wife, Linda Thibodeaux Smith; two daughters, Brandie Smith, and Candie Fryoux; sister, Janice Sharkey; brother, Barry Smith; stepson, Chad Thibodeaux; grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Desting Hoffpauir, Trenton Lloyd and friend Halyn Sullivan, Toree Rispone (Michael) Conner Thibodeaux (Cayley); and Peyton Thibodeaux and friend Gabby Guichard; great grandchildren, Jayden Moniot and Carsyn Thibodeaux.
Randy spent most of his adult life working at Copolymer. He was there for 47 years and was a maintenance superintendent for many years. Randy was a man of few words, he always said "If they are smart, they will listen to every word." He always wondered why ask a question and not listen to the answer.
Randy was known as "Mr. Miagi" he believed in "wax on wax off" he needed you to understand and comprehend the meaning, such an intelligent man.
Randy loved the outdoors. He had two places that he wanted to go to more than anything. Black River Lake and Camp "No Problem!" He loved fishing and hunting. Randy had a special communication with the fish that no one ever understood. He knew where they were and what they wanted. It was magical! His favorite moments were the Copolymer fishing tournaments with all the guys at our camp- such fun and laughter, including friendship lies.
Those "buddy lies" continued at camp "No Problem!" Just like at the lake where the fish feared him, and the deer and hogs feared him also. Randy was at his happiest with either a fishing rod or a rifle in his hands.
He was a man among mountains! Sadly, Randy will be missed by family and a host of friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Saturday, March 02, 2024, from 2:30 PM until the Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.
