Paul Neilson, Jr.

Paul Cornelious Neilson, Jr., 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He entered this world on October 5, 1928 in Hattiesburg, MS, born to Paul and Verna Neilson. Paul honorably served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. Paul was a faithful member of Galilee Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Colleen Coats Neilson; daughter, Marsha Lynn Barnes and husband Howard of Zachary; son, Ronald E. Neilson and wife Martha of Idaho; daughter, Deborah "Jan" Laney of Central; son, Don Todd Neilson of Zachary; 4 grandchildren, Bobbie Janelle Nielsen and husband Tim, Michael Paul Laney and wife Laura, Melissa Diane Laney and John Thomas; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Cornelious, Sr. and Verna Lenora Neilson; brother, Laurits Neilson and sister, Becky Neilson.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Sibley, Gerald Braud, Neal Smith, Bobby Holt, Tom Workman and J.D. Henery.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue at Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Brother Tim Fabre. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
