Patsy Doughty Kendrick Potter, a resident of Baker and a native of Jena, LA, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2016. She was 82 years old, born on February 17, 1934 to Lewis J. and Agnes Whatley Doughty. She was preceded in death by her brothers Frank and Earl Doughty, and a sister Hilda Doughty Carraway. She lived a life of faith in Jesus Christ and all who knew her loved her for her straightforward and passionate commitment to the Lord, to her family and friends, and to her church. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University, but spent most of her "working years" serving her family.
Her marriage to Paul Raymond Kendrick on July 24, 1952, lasted 38 years until his death on September 20, 1990. They had five children, a daughter, Susan Bickham married to Richard M. Bickham; four sons, Raymond Kendrick; Douglas Kendrick, married to Ruth Lam Kendrick; Jeffrey Kendrick; and James Kendrick, married to Christy Cormier Kendrick.
She has nine grandchildren: Jessica, Andrew, Victoria, Caroline, Bailey, and Kaelyn Kendrick and Sarah, Richard, and Thomas Bickham, plus eight great-grandchildren.
She married again in 2002 to James B. Potter until his death in March, 2006.
Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, from 10:30am - 11:30am. The Celebration of Life service will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Garlin Mizell of Bethany Church.
