Norman E. "Pete" Heine, who left us on his 96th birthday December, 4, 2024.

Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. His passion for public service and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered. He is survived by children Kathy Heine, Chuck Heine and Scooter Heine (Gigi). Grandchildren Jeremy Heine (Brittney), Austin Heine (Brittany), James Heine , Jr. (Beyonka), Hallie Overfield Moses (Samuel), Tommie Overfield, Trisha Heine Kirkland (Chance), Joseph Heine (Presley) who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Great grandchildren Nadalyn Heine, Hayden Heine, Emma Heine, Raylon Walker-Heine, Jayden Heine, Madison Heine, Bristol Kirkland, Whitlea Kirkland, Natalie Moses, Andrew Moses, Truett Heine, Elizabeth Heine, Madeline Heine, Nolan Heine and Savannah Heine, (Jared) and Evan Egana and former daughter-in-laws Mary Heine, Coleen Howland Keller and Lori Verbois and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death by his wife Georgia Lee Pilcher Heine, father and mother Reverend Charles A Heine and Edna, brother Charles "Bubba" Heine, sister Lucy Heine Bergeron, son Steve Heine, son Lee Heine, grandsons Steven Heine, Jared Heine, former son-in-law Glenn Overfield.

He served in the United States Air Force Korean War as a Staff Sgt/Crew Chief on a F-86 Saber Jet from August 26, 1948 until he was Honorable Discharged June 1952. He participated in the Berlin Airlift.

He served as City of Baker Councilman from April 1961 through June 9, 1964 and December 12, 2020.

He served as City of Baker Mayor from June 9, 1964 through June 13, 1976 and from December 12, 1981 through June 30, 2000.

He served as West Feliciana Manager from June 1997 through June 2004.

He was past President of the Louisiana Municipal Association and Executive Board Member.

He was a delegate for the Louisiana Constitutional Convention 1972 who rewrote the State of Louisiana Constitution.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at the City of Baker Municipal Center, 3325 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue at Miracle Place Church, 2080 Main Street, Baker, LA, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 10:30 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service and burial with his beloved Georgia will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.

Military honors will take place at the visitation on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 7:30 PM in the Municipal Center, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Miracle Place Church, and at the graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
