A devoted husband, father and grandfather "Pops", Murphy Wilson Corkern, Jr., passed away February 24, 2016 at age 64. He was born on June 15, 1951 in Bogalusa, LA. He retired from Exxon with 37 years of service. Murphy enjoyed fishing, woodworking and serving his church. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, a steward of Christ and a man of strong faith.
Murphy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandra Jennings Corkern; two sons, Jason Isaac Corkern (wife Jill), Kevin Patrick Corkern both of Central, LA; two grandchildren, Beau Isaac Corkern and Mia Renee Corkern; four sisters; Annette LeBlanc (husband Nolan) of Slidell, Hazel Gaudet (husband Calvin) of Metairie, Louise Davenport (husband Charlie) of Marrero and Carolyn Huerstel (husband Mike) of Loranger; and one brother Berent Corkern of Ponchatoula.
Murphy is preceded in death by his parents, Murphy Wilson and Annette Perkins Corkern.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and will continue on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the service begins at 11:00am.
Interment will follow at Plains Presbyterian Memorial Gardens, Zachary, La. off Plains Port Hudson Rd.
Officiating the services will be Pastor Don Hulsey.
