Retired from the Baker High School cafeteria, a resident of Ethel and a longtime resident of Baker, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at her home. She was 88, and a native of Bienville Parish. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 58pm, and on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Rusty Bowser. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by her son, Richard Dale Mathews and wife, Dezi of Irrigon, OR daughter, Peggy Lee and husband, Bradley of Ethel grandson, Ricky Mathews of Jarreau six grandchildren one greatgreat grandson her sister Eloise Swindall of Birmingham, AL brother, Tommy Logan and wife, Vida of Baker sistersinlaw, Barbara Sutton of Bryceland, LA and Virginia Rae Bates of Friendship, LA and brotherinlaw, Jack Mathews of Baker. Preceded in death by her husband, Dalford Bob Mathews grandson, Robert Dainis Mathews parents, Tom Dooley Logan and Minniebelle Cinderella Dison Logan sisters, Maybelle Ross and Mary Frances Cheatwood Walton and brothers, Rufus Logan, Lewis Logan, and JW Logan. Eva was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Baker, and most recently a member of Olive Branch Baptist Fellowship of Slaughter, LA. She loved gardening, raking leaves and scratching in her flowerbeds. She was a very sweet lady and will be greatly missed by all who loved her, including her kids, Louie and Daisy.
