Milda Matherne

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge and Baker, she passed from this earthly world on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Butterfly Wing of Hospice of Baton Rouge. Born on April 26, 1923, she was 88, a native of Gramercy, and in recent years a resident of Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs. Milda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, from 59pm, with recitation of the rosary at 7pm, and on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 8am until religious services in the chapel at 10am, conducted by Rev. Frank Bass. Interement to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. She is survived by her children, Sandra Matherne Madere and husband, Preston Madere, Susan Matherne Tourere and husband, Bobby Jo Tourere, Evan Matherne, Jr. and wife, Iris Jarreau Matherne, Debbie Matherne Moulard and husband, Kevin Moulard, Cathy Matherne Hansen and husband, Andreas Hansen, Elizabeth Matherne Joiner, and Jeffery Matherne one sister, Eunice Roussell Breaud a sisterinlaw, Irene Matherne Braud grandchildren, Stephanie Madere Nuzzolillo and Sean Nuzzolillo, Jeannine Madere Muoz and Victor Muoz, Jason and Karen Madere, Sheila Tourere Allgood, Sonya Tourere, Candace Matherne Rogers and Cody Rogers, Kelly Matherne, Shawn and Caroline Jones, Tricia Moulard, Penny Stephens Dugas and Jeffrey Dugas, Dale and Wendy Stephens, April Stephens Smith and Cory Smith, Philip Moulard, Kodi Bewley, Jill Matherne Coon, Daniel and Catherine PyeSessions, and Nicole Sessions Holland 24 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan Matherne, Sr., her granddaughter, Lani Amanda Bewley three brothers, four sisters, and her parents. Pallbearers will be Evan Matherne, Jr., Jeffery Matherne, Preston Madere, Bobby Tourere, Kevin Moulard, and Andreas Hansen. Milda was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 4224, Baker.
