BOWMAN, Mel Maude Falconer

Proverbs 31:2529 A former homemaker and resident of Baker for 57 years, she passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at her home at the age of 81 after a long battle with renal disease. She was a native of Wilson, and retired from Lane Regional Medical Center, where she worked in medical records for 10 years. Visiting at First Baptist Church of Baker on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 11am until religious services at 1:30pm, conducted by her grandson, Rev. Clay Johnson. Interment to follow in Eastern Star Cemetery in Wilson. Survived by a son, Brad Bowman of Baker daughter and soninlaw, Brenda Don Simpson of Zachary six grandchildren, Branden Bowman, Kayla Johnson husband Clay, Toby Simpson wife Kelly, Samantha Morris husband Kyle, Zach Simpson wife Heidi, and Jesse Simpson seven great grandchildren special niece, Robin Krotz husband Mike, and two special great nieces, Delayne Santos husband Gerardo, and Kacey Krotz. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jesse Bowman parents, Daniel Maude Falconer a sister and brotherinlaw, Grace Samuel Fitzgerald great granddaughter, Zoe Johnson and a nephew, Danny Lane Fitzgerald. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, JoAnn Patin and Peggy Sasso, and to Ginger Hughes, RN and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice. Mel was a graduate of Clinton High School, and an active member of First Baptist Church of Baker for 56 years where she taught Sunday School until the time of her illness. She taught Bible Study at Lane Nursing Home for many years, and was a member of The Leprechaun Club.
