Mary Lou Spears

In the early morning of Monday, November 27, 2023, Mary Lou Spears, age 90, entered her final resting place in Heaven. She was born to Katie and E.M. "Bubba" Farmer on June 19, 1933 at her home in Montgomery, TX.

Mary Lou was the first commissioned woman officer in the Baker Police Department, and a long-time member of the Police Chiefs associations as a former Vice President of the association. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Baker, along with the Fraternal Order of Police and the Eastern Star Chapter, in Baker. When she wasn't working she was golfing, watching anything LSU related, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry John; her mother, Katie and father, E.M.; and 2 brothers, E.M., Jr. and R.D.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joy and Kay (Brian). She was the proud Granny to her two grandchildren, Macy (Matt) and Colt (Caleigh); as well as great grandchildren, Ida, Eva Dale, Porter, and awaiting the arrival of her newest great grandson, Decklan. Also survived by nephew, Mike Farmer (Linda), Kathie Sims and the Ewell Family.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Cory Olivier. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.
