Marie Toler

A lifelong resident of Baker, Beth passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at her home after a twoyear battle with a brain tumor glioblastoma. She was born in Clinton on Oct. 22, 1926, the only child of the late Adlai A. and Lucille Sale Morvant. Beth married her high school sweetheart, Jack, on Sept. 23, 1945, and they were still holding hands this Nov. 11th. Beth was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, but she really excelled when it came to her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and pets. As much as Beth loved her family, she adored her husband. Whatever adventure or project Jack thought up, she was the first one on board. While traveling on their boat, Sea Princess, Beth and Jack took memorable trips across the Gulf to Key West and beyond. Beth was a great cook and loved to feed everyone she met. Beth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack C. Toler Jr.: three daughters, Sue Toler and her children, Beau Bourgeois, Brandon Toler Bourgeois and wife Kacie, their children, Destiny Hutchinson, Brenden Toler and Adleigh Bourgeois, all of Baker Treasure Hurst, of Irving, Texas, and her children, Chantelle Hurst, Inverness, Fla., John and wife Lili Hurst, of Lake Placid, Fla. Dell and husband Terry Travis, of Zachary and their children, Angela and husband Paul Kimball, their children, Sean Capello II, Raegan Kimball, and daughterinlaw, Holly Travis, all of Central, Ryan and wife Beth, and their daughter, Alice, of Fayetteville, Ark. two sistersinlaw who were like sisters to her, Jean Whaley and Ann Haley, both of Baker and brotherinlaw, Jimmie Toler and wife Evelyn, of LaPlace. Beth is also survived by her dear friends of 60 years, Geraldine Alderman and Shirley Gremillion. The family wishes to express their appreciation and love to her caregiver, Dorothy Ernest, who was with her Lady Bug when she passed. Visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, Nov. 15, from noon until services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gene Rives. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren, who will be led by her precious angel, grandson Brent Travis, who passed away 4 days before his grandmother. Memorial donations may be made to Baker First United Methodist Church Community Caf, 1255 Camelia Ave., Baker, LA 70714. Beth never met a stranger and gave everyone unconditional love. She will be greatly missed. It was a pleasure for our family and her friends to take care of Beth these past two years, after her years of devotion to us.
