Margaret Ashmore

Her children shall arise and call her blessed We were the ones blessed with such a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She dedicated herself to her family and her students. A resident of Baton Rouge, and a retired teacher with East Baton Rouge Parish Schools with 28 years of service, she passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Lane Regional Medical Center. She was 69 and a native of Meridian, MS. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 48pm, and on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 8am until religious services in the chapel at 10am, conducted by Brother Marvin Smith. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by three daughters and sonsinlaw, Sherry and Mike Clark of Denham Springs, Nan and Chris Pitre of Baton Rouge, and Kristi and Jeff Ansonia of Baton Rouge two stepsons, Billy Ashmore Jr. and wife Connie, and Wesley Ashmore and wife Claire two sisters, Myrna Cook and Linda Shadow, both of Meridian, MS two brothers, Kenneth Shadow of Meridian, MS, and Don Shadow of Morristown, TN and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she cherished. Time and distance never changed her constant and abiding love for them. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ford second husband, Billy Ashmore, Sr. a brother, Tommy Shadow and her parents, J.T. and Azalea Shadow. Pallbearers will be Joseph Henderson, Patrick Henderson, Michael J. Clark, Brent Scardina, Michael Davis, and Jaron Hair. Honorary pallbearer will be Bodie Scardina. Everyone called Margaret Mama, Granny, or Aunt Net, whether they were related or not. Special thanks to Dr. Brad Giarrusso and Dr. Satish Gadi, and the entire staff of Lane Regional Medical Center, who called her our sweet little patient. Her generous heart and unconditional love will continue to live on. With Gods glory shining in her eyes, she said, Im going home to heaven. Found among her papers was this handwritten statement: I died a Christian, believing wholly and completely in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
