Lucille M. Ducote, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, April 8, 2016 at the Baton Rouge General Regional Medical Center- Bluebonnet. She was 82 years old, a native of Marksville, LA and longtime resident of Baker. She loved gardening, especially roses; crocheting, going to the casino and most of all Facebook.
Lucille is survived by five daughters; JoAnne and Harry Breeden, Wanda and Craig McCulloch, Jeanette and Dean Carrier, Sr., Cindy and Vic Todd, Sr., and Jodi and Richard Borghese; a son Jamie and D'Ette Ducote; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Hilda Matthews.
She was preceded by her loving husband of 63 years, Newton James Ducote, Sr., to whom she was affectionately known as "Bib"; parents, Amet and Jervenia Gaspard and three brothers.
The family request that visiting hours be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 10:00 AM until religious services in the chapel at 12:00PM officiated by Father Michael J. Monorey. Interment will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Jared Lyons, Ryan Hemmer, Rusty Todd, Nicholas Borghese, Garrett Breeden and Hunter Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be George Matthews and Tim Matthews.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Kahn and Dr. Thomas and the ICU nursing staff at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center; especially Jacob and Danica.
