Louis Dunigan

Louis Wayne Dunigan, 75 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2022. He entered this world on October 5, 1946, born to Isaac and Ruby Dunigan, in Baton Rouge, LA. Louis served his community for many years on the Planning and Zoning Commission and as a Councilman for the City of Baker. He retired from Turner Industries and later served with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department as Director of Facility Services.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years and 8 months, Sheila Alderman Dunigan; daughters, Heather Dunigan and wife Renea Rios of Pensacola, FL, Heidi Peak and husband Clyne of Zachary; grandchildren, Hayden Dunigan, Kennedy Parker; brother, Willard Ray Dunigan and wife Lucille; brother-in-law and wife, Tommy and Patti Alderman of Brookhaven, MS; sisters, Elizabeth Dunigan and Susan Bonnette; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Louis is preceded in death by his father, Isaac Willard Dunigan; mother, Ruby Mae Dunigan; and in-laws, Ralph Alderman and Frances Geraldine Alderman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lt. Garrett Owens, Capt. James Broussard, Sgt. Jeremy Owens, Sgt. Robert Foster, Sgt. David Vincent, and Capt. Micah Bourgeois.

Honorary pallbearers will be Will Gautreaux, Cameron Alderman, Cory J. Alderman, Daryl Dunigan, Randall Dunigan, Keith Bonnette, Tomas Chaves, Bryan Rogers, Ben Rogers, Kade Dunigan, Elijah Reed, and Micah Reed.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue at Baker Funeral Home, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Troy Grimes, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, Lt. Garrett Owens, and Tommy Alderman. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
