Lorraine Thomas, born Doris Lorraine Irvin, exited this life Wednesday November 3rd at 9:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, South Carolina at the age of 89. She was a resident of Mauldin S.C., and a Native of Philadelphia, the only daughter of Beulah Ethel Dibert Irvin and Samuel Christopher Irvin also of Philadelphia. Visiting will be Monday November 8th, 2010 from 2:002:30, at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd, in Baker with religious services at 2:30. Burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. Lorraine was an outstanding student, took a lively interest in political issues, and was an avid reader all her life. She was an able caregiver and a faithful friend. She kept up a large correspondence with many friends and never forgot a family birthday. While living abroad with her husband she learned to speak Spanish and brought great joy to her nieces and nephews with the Christmas boxes sent every year filled with toys and handmade doll clothes. After moving back to the States she and her husband resided in Lake Charles and finally Baker where she enjoyed gardening and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In 2006 she moved to S.C. where she resided with family until her death. She will be remembered for her love of family, her sharp mind and her steady character. She will be missed. Lorraine is survived by her only Brother, Richard Eugene Irvin and his wife Jean Myers Irvin and their 5 children. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of over 50 years, William R.
