Leslie was born and raised in the community of Mars Hill, Mississippi, and died peacefully at his home in Watson on Friday, February 21, 2014. He was 79, and was a longtime employee of Uniroyal, and retired as a chemical operator from Ferro. He was also a United Stated Air Force Veteran. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, Feb. 24, from 10am until religious services in the chapel at 1:00pm, conducted by Rev. John Pemberton. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene L. Wells two daughters and sonsinlaw, Debra and Daryl Rushing, and Pamela and Kenneth Lang, and granddaughter, Danielle Rushing, all of Watson sister, Virginia Wells Burris of Thompson Community, MS brother, Walter Roy Wells of Smithdale, MS sisterinlaw and brotherinlaw, Frances and Hollis Harrell of McComb, MS and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Mavis and Howard Wells three brothers, Clinton, Clyde Lee, and Elton and a sister, Louise. Pallbearers will be the deacons from Watson Baptist Church, where Leslie was a member. During his life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. The family wishes to thank Dr. Eric Waguespack, Dr. Joel Silverberg, Dr. Ray Corona, and dads most competitive deer hunter, Dr. Fred Petty, for the compassionate care he received.
