Lawrence McCearley, Jr.

Lawrence Walter McCearley, Jr., 93 years old, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 24, 2024. He entered this world on February 20, 1931, born to Dochey and Lawrence McCearley, in Wilkinson County, MS. Lawrence honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired after 30 years of working for The Baton Rouge Fire Department. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Baker, Louisiana.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Cleta McCearley; daughter, Angie Blanchard; daughter-in-law, Paula Plaisance; grandchildren, Desiree Shaw and husband, Darin, Joey Plaisance and wife, Christi, Jessica Plaisance, Justin Blanchard and wife, Katelyn, Heather Templet and husband, Carl, and Sheree Gerald and husband, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Victoria St. Romain, Jude St. Romain, Addie Plaisance, Amelia Plaisance, KP Gerald, Colton Gerald, Hudson Gerald, Miguel Templet, Mimi Templet, Micah Templet; brothers, Marion McCurley and Thomas McCurley and wife, Elisa; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence McCearley, Sr. and Mary McCearley, his son, Gary Plaisance; his brother, Edward McCearley; and his son-in-law, L.J. Blanchard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Plaisance, Justin Blanchard, Thomas Allsup, Joseph Lesage, Jude St. Romain, and Darin Shaw. Honorary pallbearer will be T. Mark McCurley.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on March 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM officiated by Reverend Arnold Austin. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, in Baker, Louisiana.
