LaWanna Strickland Sumrall
A retired secretary from Baker High School from 19691989, and a retired legal secretary in Baton Rouge, LaWanna Strickland Sumrall passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at 10:14pm at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Bluebonnet at the age of 80. She was a resident of Baker, a native of Montgomery, Louisiana and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Baker. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday Jan. 15, 2010 from 57pm, and on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 from 9am until religious services in the funeral home chapel at 10am, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Allen. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be TJohn Thompson, John M. Thompson, Keith Strickland, Donald Farris, Mark Mullis, and Wes Kilcrease. She is survived by her husband of 58 12 years, Harry Sumrall of Baker two daughters and sonsinlaw, Shirley Anthony Catanzaro of Port Allen, and Vickie Byron Broussard of Katy, Texas one son and daughterinlaw, Kenneth Beth Sumrall of Katy, Texas seven grandchildren, Austin Sumrall, Michelle P. Gervais husband Paul, Natalie Poole, Melissa P. Mullis husband Mark Julie B. Kilcrease husband Wes, Haley Broussard, and Daniel Sumrall two stepgrandchildren, Ashley Kelli Cantanzaro and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Strickland a sister, Jean Davis and her parents, E.C. Nealie Strickland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, or the American Heart Association.
