Karen Elizabeth Day, 74, adored wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother was called home to be with Jesus her Savior on August 13, 2016. A longtime Baker resident who was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Natchez, MS, she is survived by her best friend & husband, Thomas M. Day, & is preceded in death by her parents Edgar Bailey Wroten, Sr., & Ruth Albritton Wroten, & her brother-in-law Harold Pitre.
A caring elementary teacher for years, she served the Lord in numerous capacities in church ministry including as a faithful couples Sunday School teacher & as National Day of Prayer Coordinator. She was a tireless prayer warrior who took great joy investing in the lives of her grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers: Edgar B. Wroten, Jr. (Marilyn) & Wayne Wroten (Mary); her sister-in-law Shirley Pitre; her sons: Jeffery Day (Robin); Jason Day (Terri); Douglas Day; & David Day (Nathalie); her grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Joannah, Cessily (Davey), Stephanie (Michael), Nathen, Natalie, Cayden, Zach, & Micah; her great-grandchildren: Benson, Bohen, Paisley, & Meelah; & numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be her sons & grandsons.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd, Baker, LA, on Wed., Aug. 17, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Visiting will continue at Baker Funeral Home on Thurs., Aug. 18, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service at Noon. The graveside service & burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Baker, LA. Reverend Jesse Bourgoyne will officiate the services.
