A devout Catholic and a resident of Zachary, she went to be with her Lord and Maker at 2:00am on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the age of 81. She was born December 13, 1930 to Ida F. Smalley Bishop and Albert F. Bishop in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, where she also attended nursing school and received her degree as a registered nurse. Throughout her life she worked as a registered nurse, and retired from East Louisiana State Hospital after 28 years of service. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 5pm services at 6pm, conducted by Father Jeff Bayhi, followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7pm. Joyce is survived by two daughters, Sally McGee of Anahuac, Texas, and Paula Tate of Jackson, Louisiana a son, Jay McGee of Baton Rouge eight grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. McGee daughter, Amy McGee Kirby a grandson, Aaron Cuny and her brother, Dr. George Bishop. Joyce was a devout Catholic, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary.
