Joyce T. Ballard

A resident of Central and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 1:30am at Ochsner Medical Center Baton Rouge. She was 83, a retired bookkeeper with Bancroft Paper, and a native of Morgan City. She was a good person who was loved by many. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by the Rev. Mike Mahoney. Recitation of the Rosary will be 9:30am. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum, Baker, LA. Survived by a daughter and soninlaw, Marlyn Allan Eddy of Central a son and daughterinlaw, Russell Sr. and Carol Ann Ballard of Madisonville five grandchildren, Tammy S. Fouts husband David of Central, Dawn S. Iueli husband Rick of Central, William Eric Stevenson wife Betsy of Noblesville, Indiana, Todd O. Ballard wife Melissa of Pride, and Russell O. Ballard Jr. wife Amanda of Prairieville eleven great grandchildren, Kaz, Kyle, Kade, Kamryn, Cody, Dylan, Olivia, Emily, Aidan, Chandler Colton and her precious cats, Chloie LuLu. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leland O. Ballard parents, Nora Myrtile Theriot brother, Archie Theriot sister, Nora Dell Jenkins special friend, Hollis Firmin Sr. and her special cat, Samantha. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. She was a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. She was an active member of the Community of Central, distributing commodities at the Central Fire Station. She was on the volunteer services of Greenwell Springs Advisory Board and worked in the hospital gift shop. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association, or The Humane Society.
