A resident of Wilson, he passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Baton Rouge. He was 79, and retired from Air Liquide with 37 years of service. Visiting at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3147 Church St., Jackson, LA, on Tuesday, December 10, from 59pm, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visiting resumes at the church on Wednesday, December 11, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, celebrated by Rev. Cary Bani. Graveside service at 2:00pm Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery, Jennings, LA, conducted by Rev. Tony Fontenot. Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Myers Mallett four children, Lenora Richard Mark Sr. Harding, Sonia Katherine Whitney Mallett, Tina Andy Hall, and Vern Michelle Mallett grandchildren, Jennifer and Richard Mark Harding, Jr., Julia Whitney, Brandon Hall, and Angela, Kyle, and Adam Mallett greatgrandchildren, Kamron Harding and Chadwick Potter brothers, Henry Wanda Mallett, and Herman Jerry Mallett and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Laura Mallett daughter, Gwendolyn J. Mallett and a brother, Albert Mallett. Pallbearers are Ravin Lachman, Mark Harding Jr., Kyle Mallett, Adam Mallett, Stephen Potter, Andy Hall, Mark Harding Sr., and Bud Whitney. Honorary pallbearers are John Richard, Brandon Hall, and members of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Joe was from a small town in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana. He was a 1956 graduate of SLI, with six years active duty in the Army, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Joe was active in the Catholic churches in Baton Rouge, and East and West Feliciana Parishes. He served as usher, liturgist, eucharistic minister, and bookkeeper for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jackson, Louisiana. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and was a Fourth Degree Knight as well as a member of the East Feliciana Tourist Commission.
