Joseph Haynes

Joseph M. Haynes, Tank Car Joe, passed away on February 17, 2018, and a resident of Baker, La. He was born on December 26, 1935, in Donaldsonville, La. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, served during the Vietnam War, wounded and awarded the Purple Heart as well as numerous other awards and commendations. He retired from the Rail Road Department, Dow Chemical with 26 years of service. Joseph was a member of Primitive Baptist Church, Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, La.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, La., on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The visitation will continue at Baker Funeral Home, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Elder Mickey Myers. The graveside service and burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.

Joseph is survived by his two sons, David M. Haynes and wife Sandra of Zachary, La. and James M. "Jamie" Haynes of Baker, La.; granddaughter, Alexis M. Haynes; step-grandchildren, Tamra and Michael Todd; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Delooze of Maurepas , La. and Pam Meaulance of Baton Rouge, La.; brother-in-law, John H. Meaulance, Jr. of French Settlement, La.; nephews, Jason Graphia, Casey and Levey Koon, Robert Hall, Jr., and Brandon Meaulance; and nieces, Deshea Kosyak, Tammy Warden Austin, Tex and Terri Boston, Tanya Jordan and Brenda Crooks, all from Stonewall, La.

Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Vida M. Haynes; son, John S. Haynes; mother and father, Aline R. and Willie Haynes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elrie C. and John H. Meaulance; brother, Slactre "Nookie" Haynes; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet R. Hall and Robert Hall.
