Joseph Albert "Joey" Guttirrez, 60 years old, beloved Husband, Father, Paw Paw, Son, and Brother was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 10, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on August 27, 1960, born to Earlie and Riley Guttirrez, in Baton Rouge, LA. First and foremost, he lived for and loved his family and cherished his grandsons, spending as much time as he could with them. He enjoyed spending time on the water fishing and water skiing.
Joey is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rita Stone Guttirrez; daughters, Ashley Freeman (Charles), and April Baus (Tylor); grandchildren, Shane Riley Freeman and Ethan Carey Freeman; mother, Earlie Burkhalter Guttirrez; brothers, Riley Guttirrez, Jr. (Kathy), and Larry Guttirrez (Carla); sister, Tammie G. Woolfolk (Martin); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joey is preceded in death by his father, Riley Bernard Guttirrez.
The family would like to thank M.D. Anderson Hospital, Tulane Transplant Center, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center Hospital and all of their staff for the care, love, and attention they have shown Joey over the last couple of years. It has not gone unnoticed.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Degatur, Daniel Holloway, Kyle Hyde, Jason Jones, Abner Pacheco, Matt Stone, Nick Tippett, and Darren Wilson.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at First Baptist Church of Zachary, 4200 Main Street, Zachary, LA, on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM officiated by nephew, Reverend Jason Allen.
